President's Message

The Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Molecular Science is the most important activity of our society, where researchers, educators and intellectuals who engage in various academic fields involving molecules gather. Every year the local organizing committees at the meeting venues have taken up the challenge of organizing stimulating and diverse meetings. The Kyoto meeting of 2013 is the 50th in total since the first meeting of BUNSHI-KOZO TORON-KAI in 1964, the predecessor of the present annual meeting. In recent years, more than 1,000 individuals, consisting of both society members and non-members, gather for the Annual Meeting to discuss the latest research results that they have obtained, and to exchange research information for the further development of molecular science. At the exhibition booth area, participants have access to the products and information of sponsor companies that seek to support their research activities. We are proud that this forum for discussion offers the best opportunities for the participants in personnel exchanges, development of human resources, and exchange and delivery of research information.

Molecular science is a discipline that pursues an understanding of the structures, properties and reactivities of molecules. From molecules floating amid the stars in the universe to those integral for life on earth, molecular science unravels every possible phenomenon involving molecules, and contributes to the creation of new molecules, materials and systems. It is a key discipline that crosses boundaries between various academic fields of natural science, and our everyday life has deep roots in it. We would like to welcome you to the forefront of molecular science, which we will present at the 2013 meeting in Kyoto.
