Abstract

We have applied for the first time, femtosecond upconversion technique to detect Raman scattering from a solvent (acetonitrile) in presence of strong solute fluorescence (coumarin 153) by means of temporal fluorescence rejection. Our technique, which employs a time resolution of about 100 femtoseconds, allows nearly 10 fold improvement in the rejection efficiency compared to previous methods where the time resolutions were several picoseconds
