a low-pressure flowing gas sample of benzyl cyanide (C6H5COCN) was photolyzed with excimerlaser(KrF) at 248 5nm, and fluorescence from the fragments, CN(B2+) was observed. The vibrational and rotational distributions for the nascent CN(B2+) were determined by the simulation analysis of the dispersed fluorescence spectra. Here, we discuss the dissosiation mechanisms of two-UV photon excited benzyl cyanide based on the internal energy distribution of the CN(B2+) products.
