The photodissociation dynamics of Cl2 adsorbed on amorphous and crystalline water ice films was investigated at 351 nm, probing the time of flight spectra of the photofragment Cl (2P3/2). Although the kinetic energies of the Cl photofragments for two different water ice films were the same, the quantum yields for formation of the Cl atoms were not due to the interaction between Cl2 and the free OH groups.
