To investigate photoreaction of each component of DNA is important to clarify the complex mechanisms of radiation chemistry on DNA. In this research, 2-deoxy-D-ribose, which forms the double helix structure of DNA, was irradiated with soft X-rays near oxygen K-edge using synchrotron radiation. FT-IR spectrum of the irradiated sample shows that C=O bonds were formed by irradiation.
